In AFTER TWILIGHT, librarian Jen Frazier is forced by the religious police to remove certain books from the shelves so they can be burned. Sadly, this kind of censorship has been a reality throughout history. Banned Books Week was established to celebrate free speech. A confrontation between a nursing mother and employees of a Target store in Webster, TX sparked a nationwide response in the form of nurse-in demonstrations at more than 250 Target locations. TWILIGHT WITNESS highlights the First Amendment and freedom of religion, speech, the press, and the right of assemby and petitioning the government. The video features an event sponsored by the Houston chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State in which two cases of infringement of the right to free expression of religion were explored. McCollum v. Board of Education was the landmark US Supreme Court case that established the unconstitutionality of religious education in public schools. At age 10, Jim McCollum was the subject of that case. He recently spoke at an event of the Houston Chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State.
